How to Play Spider Solitaire: Rules for 1, 2 and 4 Suits
Spider Solitaire is played with two decks (104 cards) across ten columns. The goal is to build eight complete runs from King down to Ace in the same suit. Each finished run is removed from the table.
The rules
- Any card can go on a card one rank higher, whatever the suit: a 6 of hearts can go on a 7 of spades.
- You can only move a group of cards together if they are all the same suit and in order.
- Any card or same-suit run can go into an empty column.
- Tap the stock to deal one new card onto every column. You can't deal while a column is empty.
- When a column shows King to Ace in one suit, it is cleared automatically.
The three levels
- 1 suit: every card is a spade. Great for learning.
- 2 suits: spades and hearts. You need to plan which cards to stack.
- 4 suits: the real challenge. Even experts lose many games.
Tips
- Build in suit whenever you can. A mixed stack is stuck until you rebuild it.
- Empty columns are your most powerful tool. Use them to reorder stacks, not as a parking spot.
- Uncover face-down cards before dealing a new row.
- Use Undo to explore. It costs nothing on Royal Duels.
