How to Play Hangman: Rules and Tips to Guess the Word
Hangman is a classic word-guessing game. You see one blank for each letter of a hidden word and its category. Guess letters one at a time to reveal the word.
The rules
- If the letter is in the word, every place it appears is revealed.
- If it isn't, one more part of the stick figure is drawn.
- You can make 6 mistakes. On the sixth, the word is revealed and you lose that round.
- On Royal Duels a game is 5 words. Solve 3 to earn a point and all 5 to earn two.
Tips
- Start with vowels: E and A are the most common, then O and I.
- Then the common consonants: R, S, T, N and L show up in most words.
- Use the category. Under Countries, a word ending in "_ _ A" might be "CANADA" or "KENYA".
- Look at the length and the letters you have before guessing rare letters like Q, X or Z.
